Family, friends, and the Mooresville and Catawba County communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Justice Faith Wells, 19, who died following a shooting on Interstate 77 in Iredell County that authorities say stemmed from a domestic violence incident.
According to the Mooresville Police Department, the shooting occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, July 26, near Exit 35 on Interstate 77. Investigators reported that Wells was driving a black Kia when an altercation allegedly broke out inside the vehicle involving her on-again, off-again boyfriend, J’Kobe Tre’Shon Ramseur, 23, of Hickory, who was riding in the passenger seat.
Police said evidence indicates the gunfire originated from inside the vehicle during the incident. Authorities reported that both Wells and Ramseur suffered gunshot wounds to the head. Emergency responders transported both individuals to a hospital, where Justice Faith Wells later succumbed to her injuries.
Following her death, investigators upgraded the charges against Ramseur to first-degree murder, according to Mooresville Police Chief Ron Campurciani. Authorities have stated that Ramseur will be taken into custody upon his release from the hospital if he survives his injuries. The investigation remains ongoing.
Justice’s death has left her family devastated.
