The family of popular Thai YouTuber Hlun Solo, whose legal name was Bowornthat Pengsuk, has confirmed his death after days of uncertainty while he was traveling alone in Georgia to create content. He was 27.
According to his family, Hlun lost contact with relatives on July 13, 2026, while traveling through Georgia. After repeated unsuccessful attempts to reach him, his loved ones turned to social media, asking for help in locating the travel content creator and hoping for information about his whereabouts.
On July 30, the family confirmed the heartbreaking news that Hlun had died, bringing a tragic end to an anxious search that had drawn widespread attention across Thailand and among his online followers.
Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that it is working closely with the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, Türkiye, and Georgian authorities to complete the necessary procedures and arrange for Hlun’s body to be returned to Thailand. Officials are also coordinating with local authorities in Georgia to determine the exact circumstances surrounding his death.
Jaithai Upakaranitikaset, Director-General of the Department of Information and spokesperson for Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said embassy officials traveled to Georgia, where local authorities formally confirmed Hlun’s death.
Hlun’s 82-year-old grandmother, Som Plengsuk, shared her grief with reporters, saying she had continued to believe her grandson would return home safely, as he had after previous overseas trips. She described spending sleepless nights hoping for good news before receiving confirmation of his passing.
According to the family, Hlun’s 29-year-old brother, Somsak Butsri, first learned of reports of Hlun’s death through messages from social media users. However, the family waited for official confirmation through diplomatic channels before publicly acknowledging the tragedy.
The family has also urged the public not to speculate about the cause of Hlun’s death. They specifically rejected unverified online claims suggesting he died by suicide at a hotel in Tbilisi, stating that no official findings have confirmed those reports. They have called for a transparent investigation and questioned why Georgian authorities were reportedly unable to contact the family sooner despite Hlun traveling with identification documents.
Known for his engaging travel videos and adventurous spirit, Hlun Solo built a loyal audience by documenting his journeys and sharing cultures from around the world. His passion for travel and storytelling earned him admiration from thousands of viewers who followed his adventures online.
As news of his death spread, tributes poured in across social media from fans, fellow content creators, and members of Thailand’s online community. Many remembered him for his adventurous personality, positive outlook, and dedication to inspiring others through his travels.
Funeral arrangements and details regarding the repatriation of Hlun’s body are expected to be announced by his family once the necessary diplomatic procedures have been completed.
