The Bismarck community is mourning the tragic death of 22-year-old Croix Clooten, who was fatally shot Sunday night in what authorities are investigating as a homicide. Family, friends, and loved ones are grieving the loss as police continue their investigation into the deadly incident.
According to the Bismarck Police Department, officers responded shortly after 11:10 p.m. Sunday to the area near 35th Street North and East Rosser Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Clooten inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers immediately began life-saving measures before Clooten was transported to a nearby hospital. Despite the efforts of first responders and medical personnel, he later succumbed to his injuries.
On Monday evening, Bismarck Police announced the arrest of 20-year-old Loton Turner of Mandan in connection with the shooting. Turner was taken into custody just after 5:00 p.m. near the 2800 block of Gateway Avenue and was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Authorities say the investigation remains active as detectives continue conducting follow-up interviews, processing evidence, and working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. Additional information has not yet been released.
