According to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews responded on Monday, July 27, 2026, at approximately 10:31 p.m. to a crash on Countyline Road, west of Red Apple Road, in Grant Township.
Authorities identified the victim as Marlee Jo Alexander of Manistee, Michigan. Investigators said evidence indicates that she was driving a 2001 Saturn passenger car westbound on the unpaved portion of Countyline Road when she lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle reportedly slid sideways into a ditch on the south side of the roadway before striking a tree. Marlee was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash response involved assistance from the Manistee County Sheriff’s Office, Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Tribal Police, Grant Township Fire Department, and Life EMS alongside the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
